Frequently asked questions

When is the CBAM reporting deadline?

Quarterly transitional reports have been required since October 2023. Financial obligations — certificate purchase and annual surrender — began January 2026, and the first full annual CBAM declaration is due 30 June 2026.

Which industries are CBAM-affected?

Cement, iron & steel, aluminium, fertilisers, hydrogen and electricity, with possible expansion to downstream products and textiles from 2028.

Can I still use default emissions values?

Default values are no longer accepted under the definitive period. Verified actual embedded-emissions data per CN code is now required — using defaults where actual data is available typically results in higher CBAM certificate costs, not lower compliance burden.

How much does CBAM verification cost?

Our standard CBAM Embedded Emissions Verification engagement starts at €6,500, covering an installation-level Scope 1+2 inventory, per-CN-code emissions calculation, third-party verifier coordination, and an EU importer handover pack. Final scope is confirmed after a free scoping call.
